Places to search to provide you with information about an organization include:

  • Business directories such as Hoovers or Yahoo.
  • Industry specific recruiters, headhunters and placement agencies.
  • Your local yellow pages, all size and types of companies.
  • Your local library, check out their business section, you may even be able to access these resources remotely from your home computer. Librarians also tend to be fantastic fonts of knowledge, about what and where you can gather information.
  • Your own network of contacts can be a great place to ask about which companies meet your criteria.
  • Search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN or Ask. Try using mix of keywords or search terms, search for news items, press releases, product announcements.
  • Suppliers to the industry or customer of the industry.
  • Networking groups and chat/forums.
